80's Music lyric wisdom

And now, for something completely different...

Traveling in a fried-out combie
On a hippie trail, head full of zombie
I met a strange lady, she made me nervous
She took me in and gave me breakfast And she said,

I hear the drums echoing tonight
But she hears only whispers of some quiet conversation
Shes coming in 12:30 flight
The moonlit wings reflect the stars that guide me towards salvation
I stopped an old man along the way
Hoping to find some long forgotten words or ancient melodies
He turned to me as if to say, hurry boy, its waiting there for you
.
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a little bit nervous
that the best of all the years have gone by
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a little bit restless
and I dream of something wild
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and then I fall apart
Once upon a time there was light in my life
But now there's only love in the dark
Nothing I can say
.
Sometimes I feel I've got to Run away
I've got to Get away
The love we share Seems to go nowhere
And I've lost my light
For I toss and turn I can't sleep at night
.
I never seen you look like this without a reason
Another promise fallen through, another season passes by you
I never took the smile away from anybody's face
And that's a desperate way to look for someone who is still a child
I'm not expecting to grow flowers in the desert
But I can live and breathe and see the sun in wintertime
So take that look out of here, it doesn't fit you
Because it's happened doesn't mean you've been discarded
Pull up your head off the floor, come up screaming
Cry out for everything you ever might have wanted
I thought that pain and truth were things that really mattered
But you can't stay here with every single hope you had shattered
.
If you judge a book by the cover,
Then you'd judge the look by the lover
I hope youll soon recover,
Me I go from one extreme to another

I don't know that one song in between Bonnie Tyler and Big Country. I consider myself pretty knowledgeable on 80s tunes. Interesting...ALL these songs were big in 1983. Significance?

Of course you know THAT song, its tainted love,Anj.

How in the hell did you know all those others? Did you cheat?

Tell the truth now.

Actually, I downloaded a bunch of 80's music yesterday and that stuff has been stuck in my head, all kind of tied into some issues with my gf right now... I just thought I'd meander into left field for a bit...

Meh, I might as well tell you. Take it or leave it, but this is true:

I was singing Total Eclipse of the Heart in the shower this morning. You know how often I do that? Umm, never.

Weird, huh? Congratulations, you've helped to make my day extremely surreal...

Like Anj, I knew them all but "Tainted Love". I'm so glad you posted it in here, it would have driven me nuts for days!

Hmm that reminds me, need to research the way ant/bee colonies are run...

Maybe its not just the Koolaid.

And just so ya'll know- my 80's music download decision is already reaping rewards (for now). I am getting my girls hooked on it. Ahhh. For once the drive to school this morning WASNT accompanied by KidsBop crap...
