Do Atheists love their kids more?

from C&L :
Kauzlarich on Ms. Tillman's apparently "irrational" grief for her son:

"When you die, I mean, there is supposedly a better life, right? Well, if you are an atheist and you don't believe in anything, if you die, what is there to go to? Nothing. You are worm dirt. So for their son to die for nothing, and now he is no more — that is pretty hard to get your head around that. So I don't know how an atheist thinks. I can only imagine that that would be pretty tough."

So, if you know your child died for nothing, it's a lot tougher on an Atheist mom than a Christian mom, according to this lame brained thinking.

So, it's really REALLY hard to know that your son has been killed by friendly fire in a war he came to believe was all based on lies and then to have that death politicized by being lied to about his death, and to have to go to grand juries and investigative councils, wade through 10 miles of bueracratic red tape in order to force the lying liars to at last give you some truth about how your wonderful child's life had been wasted - if you are an atheist.

If you are a Christian, somehow, just SOME-FUCKING-HOW, you would be alright with all that.

How insane are these people? Look, Christians love their children just as much as Atheists. I guess a christian does have a pretty impressive crutch by being able to believe that their kid is in a fantasy land heaven now, not dead in a hole because some war profiteering jackass would really love to be EVEN richer. I believe that they will miss their kids just as much as Ms. Tillman. But I don't think a christian will love the war profiteering scumbag that sent her son to die any more than an atheist would.

To use this kind of thinking to JUSTIFY the deaths of our soldiers, our children is just lower than I thought possible of those who strive so hard to justify the war.

Is THIS how Dubya Thinks? Does a large portion of the Christian population truly believe that this war in Iraq IS a crusade, a Christian jihad?

"Hey, it's okay, these soldiers are in heaven now, no harm, no foul. I did em a favor- got them into the promised land about forty years early!"

Bile. On a daily basis- the sick, never ending vomit-in-the-back of my throat taste left by the actions of these bloody murderous bastards who sacrifice our troops daily for their goddamned bullshit!

But still, I am floored at Kauzlarich's viewpoint. I was raised with Christianity- I live with it every day in this 99.99% christian congregation that I call Lubbock, Tx. But I've just never seen it taken out on a limb so far.

Wow, just wow. A christian is saying that Atheists love their kids more because this life is all they get?! Do they finally get that part of my personal "theology?"

Has a Christian finally voiced it, albeit subconsciously? YES!

An atheist cares more about life and the lives of our children here on earth than Christians. Because we dont believe our dead kids go to some fantasy playland, we don't want them to die unneccesarily, period. We KNOW this life is all we get and so we don't take shortcuts on our own morality. We don't expect punishment or rewards upon our death.

Our lives and our deeds IN THIS LIFE are ALL that we have- So we will strive to do the best for our world, our families, and our fellow humankind = that's our goal. Not to separate one religious cult from another for "Paradise".

So maybe an atheist IS a tad bit more "grounded" when holding oneself (and others) accountable for actions that result in the death of others.

I'm an atheist too. I can't imagine what idiocy leads people to believe that there is a 'God-shaped hole' in everyone yearning to be filled. I doubt that there are really 99.99% believers even in Lubbock TX. Probably half are just posing to avoid rocking the boat.
