Ancient American History

Re: Demise of Democracy, 2004

We have become the Soviet fucking Union. Bush doesn't NEED Karl goddamn Rove any more, because he doesn't need to win any more elections. We'll be lucky if we get another damn election in this country that isn't rigged.

The plans to attack Iran, although put on hold by a surge of stateside sanity last year, seem to be moving forward. I don't know what they fucking expect bombing Iran. It sure has nothing to do with preventing terror. Like Iraq, it will increase Muslim hate for the United States a thousandfold. It will cost America billions more, and more of our own soldiers will die, along with thousands of innocent men, women, and children in Iran. But hey, what the hell, they're just sand niggers, right?

And America, once the home of the free and the brave will be proven, again, to have become the land of tyrants, wastrels, and bloodthirsty fools.

97 to 0. It is just so ... unbelievable, I would say, but it's not.

That's All Folks

This ISN'T a two party system. It is one pack of dogs, fighting over the right to kill, murder, and rape the rest of the world, while riding on the backs of us, the slaves, who thought we were free.

It was a good democracy while it lasted, right?

Right...?

I'll just keep telling myself that.

Thanks for linking to Empire Burlesque. It's new to me and I'm glad to now have it bookmarked.

I've only read the top post with Silber's excerpts and they are both stunning and scary as hell and exactly right.

Everyone! Cut the feel-good crap about about Feingold or Kennedy or Leahy or Waxman or anyone else in the 110th being on 'our side' for...for what?...A few votes that we praised on bills that were never going to pass? A call for impeachment that morphed to Nevermind, we have other stuff to do? Empire-building, of the US and of Israel, has had the full support of Congress. Wake the fuck up!

And stop thinking we'll protest in assertive ways once martial law is declared. No we won't. We'll rant and whine and continue on with our lives while our war machine is raining hellfire down on other lives. Everything is now in place to control any actions against the gov't. All the tools that Johnson and Nixon didn't have, from satellites to watch our movements to camps ready and waiting to lock us in, plus they have perfected a propaganda machine that will have the majority of us cheering our doom.

Our only hope is the rest of the world taking measures to stop this government and that's way down the road because the rest of the world, rightly, hates us. They'll cheer our bloodletting before they take actions to stem it.

An attack on Iran
Reinstatement of the draft
Martial law
Suspension of elections
Docile citizens in a new wave of 'patriotism' in support of the gov't.

That's how it will go down.

Included in the list of what is coming: in some way we will lose access to the internet or the internet will be radically changed...the internet is the one thing they didn't adequately plan to control. You can bet they have since figured it out.

If you think this administration and those behind it are a version of the Keystone Kops...fugeddaboudit.

Oh, and if you are thinking of leaving the country, it's a good idea to do that soon.

Ok, my comments above evidences that I occasionally slip over the edge.
Plus my comments seem to be aimed to you and your readers and instead they were just a rant without direction to anyone specific.
Of course nothing that I wrote will be sudden or sweeping. How can we be good consumers if we're locked up?
Instead, the same scenario but in slow motion. A continuation of compliant subjugation, willing foreiture of freedoms, an inability to unite in opposition with large enough numbers to stop the advancing machine.
That's what I see ahead.
If I am right, we deserve what's coming.
